#1 Job Type and Title
Many men falsify aspects of their jobs to appear to have more control over their professional lives, while a significant number of women to the opposite in order to appear less domineering in the workplace.
#2 Height
A UW/Cornell study has determined that over half of online daters lie about their heights in online profiles, men out-fibbing women by about 2:1. Men generally add inches, while women prefer to take it down a notch.
#3 Lifestyle
Many people suffer from a fear that their lifestyle may not be "sexy" enough to attract a desirable mate, whether because they are naturally more of a homebody (which can be perceived as "laziness") or perhaps don't have the funding for many more worldly activities. Studies have shown that people who are lying about their interests in dating profiles are more likely to avoid the use of "I" statements (were more likely to say, "Love to travel" than "I love to travel") or use shorter descriptions to describe hobbies.
#4 Income
Income is definitely an eye-catching figure on a dating profile.. and perhaps one that is better left alone. Big earner? A money-hunter may take advantage. Make too little? You may scare off someone prior to meeting who is hoping to find a partner capable of splitting the cable bill. Lie about your income? You'll probably foot the bill more than you can afford. Experts recommend omitting an income, as it is almost a lose/lose/lose situation.
#5 Weight
Weight is definitely a fluctuating metric for many, which is one reason that many tend to err on the safe side when inputting this information... If not blatantly lying about it. The UW/Cornell study found women and men subtract 8.5 and 1.5 pounds, respectively, on average. A nice alternative to lying may be to emphasize your excitement to participate in physical activities with a new partner!
#6 Physique
While some of the default "body type" selections can be left to personal interpretation, your date will probably take notice when your "athletic" self starts huffing and puffing on the way up to your seat at the theater. Our advice is to be realistic, or refrain from making a selection altogether.
#7 Age
The ratio of men who lie about their age compared to women is roughly 2:1, according to some studies. Thing is... assuming you do meet your soulmate through the great power of the Internet, this is something that will ABSOLUTELY come to light.
