182 Pounds Of Cocaine Found On Bus That Traveled From Mexico To Wilmington

#1 Cocaine Bust

The Department of Justice’s IMPACT task force found a large stash of cocaine that was hidden in a secret compartment inside a charter bus that had traveled from Mexico to the Wilmington neighborhood in Los Angeles. The bust was reported by the authorities last Tuesday.

#2 Cartel Connection

Due to the amount of cocaine and the sophisticated methods to hide it, authorities believe that the drug was being smuggled by a cartel. The shipment's wholesale value was estimated to be $2.1 million, with a street value of $10 million.

#3 3 Suspects

There were no passengers at the moment of the bust, but three men were arrested after the task force searched the auto body shop.

#4 83 Kilos

The charter bus had crossed the border at 4 a.m., and it was at an auto body shop when the task force decided to intervene at around 9 a.m. According to task force deputy Carlos Mendoza, they were able to seize 83 kilos of cocaine which were wrapped in foil and kept inside a 15-foot long secret compartment.
