No One Wants to Hear These Things After They Tell Someone They Love Them

#1 Friendship Deflection

Another one that is hard to hear but should be respected, "I value our friendship too much to be romantic with you" is a heart-breaker when everything is on the line.

#2 Rationality

Nothing shuts down a statement of love like the simple response of "You only think you love me." Not only are your feelings left reciprocated, but your entire mental state is called into question. NBD.

#3 Brutal Honesty

The obvious fear when saying "I love you" is that the person may inform you that your feelings are one-sided. While ripping the band aid off may hurt, it may be better to know sooner than later if you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

#4 A Kind Thank You

How can you be justifiably upset when your unrequited love is returned with graciousness? This response will only serve to remind you of the reasons you fell in love in the first place, while leaving you out in the cold.

#5 The Ignore

It is torture waiting to hear back after putting yourself out there. What is worse? Knowing that you are being deliberately put on hold.

#6 The "Hans"

While it may have worked for Captain Solo, I would steer clear of a guy who responds to your vulnerability with a smug "I know." Who does that?!

#7 Silence

Did they hear you? Should you say it again? Do I take it back? Nothing is scarier than the unknown.
