#1 Tell The Truth
Trust and honesty is the foundation of a healthy relationship, because without that you have nothing. Sure, you can learn to trust your partner again if they betray you once, but there is a limit to how much you'll believe them the next time something goes down. What's so hard about being honest? You're only hurting your relationship by keeping secrets to "protect" your partner.
#2 Me Time
On the opposite spectrum of too much time apart, there is a such thing as being around each other way too much! You can lose yourself in your relationship, forgetting what made you happy and fulfilled as an individual. There's nothing wrong with being selfish every once in a while, because you are not conjoined with your partner! It's great to have friends, travel and experience new things alone as well.
#3 Let It Go
Your ex is an ex for a reason, so let it go and move forward. If you're still crying at night about your breakup, it's much too early to get into another relationship. Take your time to heal and learn more about yourself before jumping into another situation! The best person to be in a relationship is someone who's confident in their attributes and abilities, who's simply looking for someone to elevate what they already have.
#4 Keep It In Your Pants
The #1 rule to a successful relationship is to always remain faithful - unless you and your partner have a specific agreement. Why cheat when you can simply end the relationship yourself? Because that's what will eventually happen if you're caught!
#5 Time Together
A relationship is supposed to be your comfort blanket, where you can go to be yourself and relax with that special someone. Time is needed to get to the comfort level of being completely open and vulnerable, so if you rarely see each other, it won't get there. Being apart can be a good thing, but there is a limit to how much distance you should have. Take time out of your busy schedule for "couple time", because it will keep your love alive!
