#1 What Does That Mean?
What restrictions did he have? Well, for one, he could not just stand up or walk like regular kids. He couldn't eat regularly nor could he use the restroom normally.
#2 How it Started
When he was a child in central India, Mahendra actually had a regular neck. However, as he grew older, his bones became weaker and weaker to the point where his neck started to curve. He was just relegated to a corner of a room and had to be carried like an infant by his parents.
#3 Meet This Kid
Meet Mahendra Ahirwar, a 13-year-old in India. He was born with an extremely rare condition that weakened his neck muscles and forced his head to hang at a full 180 degree angle!
#4 Happy Dad
"It's a miracle! He looks great. His neck is straight and his life is so very different," exclaimed the boy's father, Mukesh. "It was heartbreaking to see him before. We were on the brink of losing him. He says he can feel the difference and he loves it!"
#5 Good Deed from Abroad
When a doctor in England heard of this story, she managed to raise money to get an operation to fix his neck! And now, he can see things in a way he wasn't able to before!
#6 Juie to the Rescue
The doctor, Julie, said this about Mahendra: "It was tragic to see pictures of him as he was. All I could think about was my own son and how I'd feel if he was in that situation." And that type of mentality caused change to happen halfway across the world in India. We're so thankful for people like these who are able to enact change.
